This is my personal experience, hopefully can help friends in need.My
wife was diagnosed exposed to toxoplasma during pregnancy 4 months, we
know that because we took the initiative to ask the doctor to check
Toxoplasma so we are sure our baby is healthy or not. We do not know from the beginning of pregnancy as a gynecologist we do
not recommend to check the current Toxoplasma lab lab checks the new
prenatal consultations because when my wife said it ever has maintained a
cat but 10 years ago.After
waiting a week for lab results finally came out, we were both very lay
about Toxoplasma but little understood after reading the health articles
on the website. Our knowledge is limited to the amount of normal results "Ig G Ig M positive and negative" besides we do not know much. Out
of curiosity when waiting queue to consult a doctor eventually we open
lab results, lab results showed positive IgG and IgM positive, with the
amount of positive IgG> 1000 and IgM> 500, the results showed an
infection is above normal. We were both surprised and my wife was in tears seeing the results. When results see our doctor, the doctor also had paused and said "we'll treat and hopefully it's okay baby '. And finally we repeat lab check to make sure, the result is the same.
Doctors recommend drug therapy which in drinking until the time of birth, there are two drugs spiramisin and Sulfadiazine. After searching for info about toxoplasmosis and info direct from our late friend's office recommended to consult a doctor Fetomaternal (a specialist in fetal abnormalities) to find out if our baby is healthy or aberration. Can not be fooled if we were both very sad especially reading toksoplama effects in infants, ranging from abnormalities of organs to death. But we're resigned to whatever God must be given the best and we will accept it. From there my wife is keeping her food and regularly take medication. So weak and his condition was not spared from the pain, my wife a lot of eating and mengkosumsi honey.
Frankly to convince our baby was fine, we had to consult a physician for consideration 6. The
same answer is given that normal babies tp sorry we can not be sure of
their organs function, when ultrasound 4G was the same doctor said. After
looking around for a good doctor, at the gestational age of 6 months we
finally found a doctor Fetomaternal at Rs mother menteng namely DR. Noroyono. When
the consultations he only caught a glimpse of the results of the lab
and said let's see directly aj in ultrasound, ultrasound may be the
longest for us more than half an hour he checked out, he was very
thorough look at all the organs and alhmdulillah he says all the normal
organs, cerebrospinal fluid was normal. He is replacing the two drugs drugs early to only one drug is Azithromycin and only drink one month. In
consideration of our doctors finally we decided to Caesar and
alhmdulillah our baby is born with a weight of 3 kg and a length of 50
cm and a normal healthy. Now the 10-month-old baby weight 10 kg.Hope it is useful.Additional infoInterpretation LABORATORY RESULTSDoctors recommend drug therapy which in drinking until the time of birth, there are two drugs spiramisin and Sulfadiazine. After searching for info about toxoplasmosis and info direct from our late friend's office recommended to consult a doctor Fetomaternal (a specialist in fetal abnormalities) to find out if our baby is healthy or aberration. If IgG and IgM positive indicates a primary infection. This needs treatment and evaluation, both in the mother and baby.
When positive while IgG IgM negative, indicating a recent infection.
When positive Ig G and Ig M Negative means indicate has infected more than a year ago. This time may have developed immunity against the parasite so no need to worry about getting pregnant IMPACT Toxoplasmosis
- Miscarried
- Experienced a premature birth
- Impaired vision to blindness
- Impaired hearing
- Systemic disorders such as pale, fever, enlarged liver and spleen or bleeding.
- Neurological disorders can lead to delays in mental development and speech.
- Experiencing Encephalus (no bones of the skull)
Experiencing hydrocephalus (enlarged head)TREATMENTAppropriate
early treatment during early pregnancy would significantly decrease the
likelihood of fetal infection with Toxoplasma. The drugs are often given at toxoplasmosis include:1. Sulfadiazine combination with pyrimethamine. Both drugs can penetrate the brain barrier. Pyrimethamine and sulfadiazine can inhibit the synthesis of folic acid required for the replication of the parasite. A combination of two drugs can effectively kill the parasite and can cure up to 80% of patients. The downside of both drugs is the possibility of teratogenic effects (harmful to fetuses) that are not given to pregnant women2. spiramisinA class of macrolide antibiotics are safe in pregnant women so that
this drug can be recommended to be given to pregnant women with
toxoplasmosis.Obat other medications that can be used on toxoplasmosis
are: Clindamycin, Azithromycin, Clarithromycin is reported to be
effective for the prevention of reactivation.3. immunostimulatory drugsThe
purpose of giving immunostimulatory drugs is to stimulate the immune
system component that has been known to be protective against pathogenic
organisms that infect.
